Content bundles

A "Content Bundle" in CXF is a fundamental entity that plays a pivotal role in managing and organizing various objects and resources related to content within the CXF implementation. Its primary function is to facilitate content administration and presentation on the platform, enabling more effective and personalized delivery to contacts.

The objects and resources that can be included within a "Content Bundle" encompass:

  • Content Instances: These represent specific pieces of content, such as cards, buttons, or elements defined in content templates.
  • Content Templates: These define the structure and fields used to create content instances. "Content Bundles" can include templates to standardize content creation.
  • Stories: These encompass more extensive pieces of content, such as blog articles, event descriptions, courses, or products.
  • Story Collections: These group related stories based on themes, categories, or other criteria.
  • Products: If the implementation incorporates a product catalog, "Content Bundles" can contain information about specific products.
  • Product Collections: These assemble related products that can be displayed together.
  • Locations: They provide data about relevant places or locations for the implementation.
  • Location Collections: These group related locations.
  • Forms: They include forms used to collect information from contacts.
  • Taxonomies: Used to classify and label content in a structured manner.
  • Other Content Bundles: "Content Bundles" can be nested within others, allowing for a hierarchy of content.


A crucial aspect of "Content Bundles" is their ability to have variations. These variations are different records of "Content Bundles" that maintain the same structure but differ in their content. CXF uses criteria such as customer stages, defined through "Stage" objects, to determine which of these variations should be delivered. For instance, an active "Stage" named "Christmas" during the month of December may lead to a variation of the "Content Bundle" called "Home" that presents Christmas-themed blog stories and related seasonal products.
